Created with the estate of the manual typography and the documental fund of the newspaper “O Desforço”, founded in 1896, and the 1909 Almanach, this place is called the Press Museum.
The newspaper “O Desforço” worked as an essential link for the communities who had emigrated to Brazil, giving news of the emigrants and their lives from the other part of the Atlantic Ocean, and informing them of the principal events that occurred in their homeland. Adding to the manual equipment of the typography and estate, the museum owns some other local newspapers of that period, as well as zinc engravings with pictures used for the newspaper and the Almanach.
In
Fafe, there were also the Telegraph and the Mala-Posta that added the
necessary elements for the existence of conditions for the settlement of men
who wanted to be in touch with the other “worlds”.
